Winterplace Ski Resort offers scenic fall chairlift rides

This marks the first time that Winterplace Ski Resort, located just minutes off of Interstate 77 between Beckley and Princeton, W.Va., has offered scenic fall chairlift rides. Enjoy a cool and picturesque chairlift ride at Winterplace Ski Resort on weekends this fall from mid-September through October. 

According to Terry Pfeiffer, president of Winterplace Ski Resort, “We have been thinking about offering scenic chair lift rides for some time and decided this was the year to introduce this captivating and serene activity.”  He added, “During September and October the temperatures are comfortable, the foliage is changing and the views are absolutely stunning with a wide spectrum of colors across magnificent vistas.  On a clear day you can see for miles.” 

 

Roundtrip scenic chairlift rides start Sunday, September 16, 2012 and then will be available Saturday’s from 10am to 5pm and Sunday’s from 12pm. to 5pm. through September and October, weather permitting.

 

“Families and groups are welcome and food and beverages will be available at the Mountain House along with games,” stated Pfeiffer. 

 

The cost is $5 for children and $7 for adults with a height requirement of 38” for children. Tennis shoes and/or hiking boots are recommended and passengers must be able to get on and off the chairlift without assistance. Guests will be able to descend the mountain at their own pace by either hiking down or riding the chairlift down.

 

“We are committed to continued investment in Winterplace Ski Resort and we are excited to introduce the scenic fall chairlift rides,” commented Pfeiffer. 

 

In recent years Winterplace has invested in additional snowmaking equipment, has widened some of the ski trails, added a new terrain park features and continued to make additions and improvements in other areas.  Pfeiffer added, “Our goal is to provide the finest skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing experience in the Southeast.”
