Winterplace Ski Resort is all about family fun for all ages. We use a specialized instructional program that provides the best learning environment for children to learn to ski and snowboard. SkiWee & Snow Explorers uses a group format dividing children by age and ability, along with the widely recognized game-changing Terrain Based Learning methodology.
SkiWee & Snow Explorers Program is a really big, fun time for the youngest skiers and riders in the family, ages 4 through 12. Tickets, equipment, helmet, supervision, instruction, and LOTS OF FUN are all included!

Group sizes range from 4-8 children per instructor. The program is appropriate for children ages 4-12 years of age. SkiWee & Snow Explorers emphasizes having fun while learning. We want your child/children to love the sport!
Reservations are required at least 36 hours in advance. If space allows, late reservations will be permitted. To make a reservation simply click on the link below or call 1-800-607-7669 or 304-787-3221 and have the following information ready: Name, Height, Weight, Shoe size, Ability level, and a Credit card number to make a reservation.
Parents - SkiWee & Snow Explorers is easy as 1, 2, SKI!
- Upon arrival - check-in at the SkiWee & Snow Explorers Building (the candy cane building).
- After checking in, you will then leave your child/children for a day of FUN on the snow!
- Then off you go-skiing!
SkiWee & Snow Explorer Kids - easy as 1, 2, SKI!
- Come rested and fed! Breakfast is very important.
- Bring stuff to wear to stay warm and dry!
- Get ready to slide on the snow and have FUN!
Parents and Children - Helpful Tips - When learning something new it is important to listen to your instructor, be patient, and have fun. So come ready to learn and have fun. We are out on the snow most of the day. Clothing layers that fit and are waterproof are important for comfort. Protective eye ware is strongly recommended, i.e. sunglasses or goggles along with sunscreen for those sunny days.

8:30am - 9:00am - Arrival / Check-in & Registration (please be checked in by 9:00am or your reservation may be subject to cancellation).
9:00am - 9:30am - Equipment & clothing preparation
9:30am - 12:00pm - On the Snow
12:00pm - Parents - pick up AM SkiWee & Snow Explorers participants. You may also review progress cards with instructors at this time.
PM Session
12:30pm - 1:00pm - Arrival / Check-in & Registration (please be checked in by 1:00pm or your reservation may be subject to cancellation).
1:00pm - 1:30pm - Equipment & clothing preparation
1:30pm - 4:00pm On the snow
4:00pm - Parents - pick up PM SkiWee & Snow Explorers participants. You may also review progress cards with instructors at this time.
Parents - If it is after 4 pm when returning rental gear, please return the gear to the Rental Shop located on the main level of the Resort Center.
NOTE: This schedule is a guideline and may change due to weather, age of children, or fatigue.

Other Ski School Options:
- Children 8 years of age or older can take a group lesson or a private lesson.
- Children under the age of 6 can take a private lesson.
- Holiday Periods: Dec. 21, 2020 - Jan. 1, 2021 Jan. 16 - 18 & Feb. 13 - 15, 2021.
- Prices do not include 6% WV Sales Tax.
